In my opinion, no, there is no clear winner on replacement. It is so quick and easy to replace, I prefer to stay with the Fluidmaster valves. They should last a while unless to have bad water. I generally get 5+ years. The 3 month old valve may have gotten something stuck in it that was dislodged during the install.
